Walk the Plank II, 2003/Planken ud.- Apple – A stool." Since Eve we have, all of us, lusted for a bite of the apple! No one has held back! But the apple is much else. It has great sculptural beauty! It is a pleasure to look at! And perhaps it may give us a little of its tranquility? That is, if one can find some sufficiently competent craftsmen, who are able to such a degree to dare poach on the preserves of our Lord, and take his apple, and – for once not take a bite off it – but recreate it as a stool to sit on ! |

"Low easy chair with strong back frame, made from 55 small „planks” ribbed in band. The joint between back frame and legs has a clear reference to a chair from the grave of Tutankhamon ca. 1350 BC. (Odd how little has happened since then)".- Walk the Plank II, 2003/Planken ud |

Deck chair in ash. The recline is made of vertical slats, which give a transparent effect, while at the same time underscoring the curves of the design. The slats are wedged into the sides and stabilize the construction.- Walk the Plank II, 2003/Planken ud |

Duet two interdependent voices. In all its simplicity, the design involves two identical elements, which together make a stable and credible whole, while standing alone looses both function and meaning. The central element of the stool is the gap, the opennes of the meeting between the individual, where balance is created between the forces at play. Inspiration for this piece of furniture is the necessary global solidarity. The stool is done in ash with handcut tenons and slits; the two items are held together by three steel clamps.- Walk the Plank II, 2003/Planken ud |

"Two cabinet makers and a designer Right from the first meeting and the first, merry hello! We felt that the chemistry of our team was quite good, and that we could create something together. It made a good start, and the plank was collected. Soon, we found out that basically we would use the plank given to us as it was. Use the surface and the line of the grain at its utmost and adapt the material as little as possible, so that it would still remain a plank and a piece of wood as the focal story of the product. Following many drafts and meetings the end result was the idea of a simple bench, where legs and surface are given the same curved profile. A construction built on the same principle as that of the slat of the venetian blind. By simply curving the surface of the upper- and underside with slight differences in their radius we achieve not only strength but also a thin and sophisticated edge of the profile".- Walk the Plank II, 2003/Planken ud |
